I LOVE the races. It's such a great excuse to get glammed up with a massive group of friends and spend the day betting (and losing, in my case) on the horses, sipping champers and taking way too many photos. My favourite part has got to be the fashion. I mean, the effort some women go to is extraordinary- and it definitely pays off!

I've been fortunate enough to go to Ladies Day at Aintree twice. The first time was extremeleeely last minute so I just had to wear a dress I already owned and made a quick last minute purchase of a gorgeous real flower crown which finished my outfit perfectly. The second time, I had a lot more time to plan my outfit which took a lot of stress away from the day! I chose a gorgeous Victoria Beckham style pencil dress with a black fascinator and black suede Kurt Geigers which were about 8 inches tall. MASSIVE school boy error forgetting I was going to be on my feet for about 7 hours that day- I felt like they needed to be amputated by the time we were leaving!

If I was to go again, I would love to wear a massive, 'LOOK AT ME' kinda hat. I mean, when else can you wear such a special occasion hat?!

I created this outfit for the Ladbrokes Ladies Day at the Grand National competition, in the hope that I can snag myself a ticket for this years event! I usually try and mix high street with designer, but I just sell in love with this Self Portrait dress and couldn't help but style the whole outfit around that! I love mixing textures and print, and I think the Valentino Rockstud's add some 'edge' to the lacey dress. A huge hat, of course, and a simple Whistles clutch as not to take away from the dress and shoes. The NYX matt lip creme in Abu Dhabi with MAC's Stripdown liner is my favourite combo at the moment, I cant stop wearing it, and I think a neutral make-up look would be ideal for this outfit. Then of course, you cant wear a short dress without a slick of shimmering dry oil to keep your pins looking perfect!

Are you going to the races this year? Tweet me your outfit pictures!

P.S Does anyone else love snooping at all the dresses the morning after a big event or just me..?

  1. So this was no ordinary Flowers Delivery. I was asking to re-create the centerpieces from our wedding for my wife. They quickly responded to my email with all the information I needed, and what she envisioned the arrangement would look like.
