JULY LUST LIST

After working in retail for the entirety of my working life so far, I have finally got my foot on the career ladder! I will be starting my new role as a social media executive on Monday and I couldn't be more thrilled! In fact, thrilled is an understatement, I am over the freaking MOON!!!!!!!! So now I am on an actual wage, and not the gift vouchers I was paid in at Topshop (or may as well have been) I have out together a pretty lavish lust list this month. Obviously I am not expecting to buy it all with my next wage packet (I wish!) but slowly over the next year I hope to have it slowly but surely making itself at home in my bedroom.

Starting top left:

VALENTINO ROCKSTUDS. Retailing at around £620, these are going to have to be some sort of reward for something pretty big! But aren't they just amazing! I don't know which colour I would go for yet, but I suppose I'm not going to be buying them any time soon so I have a lot of time to mull it over!

TOO FACE MELTED LIPSTICKS. Why are all the best products American?! These molten, creamy lipsticks provide high impact, super rich, saturated pigment in a long wear formula. The colours I particularly want to get my hands on are 'sugar' and 'peony'.

MOSCHINO BELT. Mine is getting all tatty now so I really need to invest in a new one. I love throwing it on to instantly glam up an otherwise plain outfit. 

DIOR SUNGLASSES. I have seen these on a couple of my favourite bloggers and fell in love! I have no idea if the shape of them would compliment my massive head though, I usually have to go for oversized or cat eyes!

JO MALONE CANDLE. Preferably in 'Pomegranate Noir'. Now that I am not living with Ryan I can finally waste all my money on overpriced homeware, and he can't get mad about it! The candles are priced at £42, and the packaging is so pretty I don't think I would want to light it! Perhaps it can just be a decoration. (And then I can buy a cheaper pomegranate scented candle and have that burning instead!)

NIKE FREE RUNS. But not any old Nike Free Runs! (And not the trainers shown in the picture either, they were the best I could find on Polyvore!)  I was reeeeeeally bored the other day so I designed myself a custom pair using Nike ID (on the Nike website). They were leopard print with a bright yellow tick and they were so cute! They were £100, not too bad considering Free Runs usually retail at around £70 so I may be tottering down to Total Fitness in these sooner than I think!

GHD ROSE GOLD HAIRDRYER. Anyone who has long hair will know it is an absolute bastard to dry! I come out the shower and three hours later I still have strands of damp hair making a soggy patch on my shirt. I give up most of the time and end up straightening it while it's still a bit wet (DONT TRY THIS AT HOME) so I need to invest in something a bit more powerful! When it comes to hair, nothing beats GHD so I am going to be scouting around for this to be on offer somewhere and then I will be snapping it up! And yes, it has to be the rose gold one.

LV PASSPORT COVER. A classic piece of leatherwear from Louis Vuitton. It makes you look like you always travel to super expensive, tropical-paradise locations (apart from when you are standing in the Easy Jet line for the 5.20pm flight to Magaluf) Oh, and it matches my bag!

MUJI ACRYLIC STORAGE. Pretty pricey for what it is, but there are so many cheaper alternatives that are identical! (Including some that I have recently spied in BHS for a fraction of the price.) I love the fact you can see what's inside each drawer and the way you can buy loads and stack them. Judging by the amount of cosmetics I own I am going to be needing to put a bulk order in ASAP!

YSL. A girl can dream right?!?!?! The day I have a couple of YSL handbags in my closet is the day I can die a happy woman. OK I just said closet... And I am talking about YSL... I think I am Carrie Bradshaw :|

6 REASONS TO WORK OUT IN THE MORNING

IT'S OUT THE WAY! After a long, stressful  day at work, the last thing you want to do is slog it out on the treadmill! Get your workout in early, and then you can concentrate on tackling the rest of the day.

Happy hormones! Exercise realises endorphins, so by working out as soon as you wake up you will be sure to have a great day!

Carpe Diem! Having a lie-in is all fun and games until it's 5pm and you're still in your pyjamas in bed eating Domino's. Wake up early and the seize the day! There is no greater feeling of satisfaction than making a to-do list and having everything ticked off by the end of the day.

Kick start your water intake! I always carry a 1L water bottle with me when I hit the gym, and 9 time out of 10 I drink the whole thing, and refill it on my way out. That's already 2L of water out of the recommended 3L boxed off! It also triggers my brain to keep refilling it throughout my day. When I don't go to the gym, I always forget how important it is to drink lots of water and probably don't even get through a litre.

You don't need to ruin a good make-up day! Any boys reading this will be shaking their heads in disgust, but it is something us girls (well, I do!) consider when we are on the fence about whether to go to the gym or not. If you work out early, you can shower afterwards, get dolled up and not have to worry about getting sweaty and having to shower again later that day if you have evening plans. #wasteofmakeup

It puts you in the right mind set! After a tough session, the last thing I want to do is eat junk later on that day and undo all my hard work. On my way home I like to plan healthy, delicious lunch and dinner ideas for the rest of my day. (The 'My Fitness Pal' app is perfect for this!)

MY #SLIMFASTCHALLENGE ...THE RESULTS!


So my #SlimfastChallenge is over! With all the other stuff going on in my life right now, the two weeks have absolutely flown. Of course, like every diet there has been ups and downs. Lets start with the pro's!




Like I said in my last Slimfast post, I have the biggest sweet tooth! So the thought of a chocolate bar for lunch was a dream come true! As you can see, the meal replacement bars are BIG! They are tasty and filling, and I enjoyed all three flavours I was sent. I had heard mixed reviews of the summer fruits bar, some really bad, but I enjoyed it! It reminded me of an Alpen cereal bar, but triple the size! The one I have pictured is the chocolate peanut bar.



The snacks were really tasty too! I particularly enjoyed the cheddar bites (pictured) and the four cream and chive pretzels were so moreish, I could have easily polished off a couple of bags. (Kiiiiiiind of not the point of the diet though, Claudia!)




With regards to the shake, I chose to have that in the morning, as that is when I am least hungry, and I found the shakes the least filling. I chose to use the milkshake powder as opposed to the pre-mixed shakes, as I enjoyed adding my own ingredients to make it a little more flavoursome than just plain vanilla. The smoothie bowl pictured contains 1 scoop of Slimfast french vanilla powdered shake, half an avocado, about 15 ice cubes, half a teaspoon of xanthan gum (natural thickener). I blended everything together and topped it with a bit of honey and a spoonful of seeds/nuts/raisins. YUM!




This shake was 1 scoop of Slimfast french vanilla powdered shake, a small frozen banana, a few ice cubes, half a teaspoon of xanthan gum, and again topped with honey and seeds. When I was adding my own ingredients to the shake I made sure to use only one scoop of Slimfast powder instead of two, so I didn't go over the recommended 230 calories. 




After eating sweet things all day I really looked forward to my savoury evening meal! This was a Quorn peppered steak salad I made for my Mum and I. The concoction in the top left corner is cottage cheese with a bit of hot sauce, so good!



Another thing I rustled up! To make this banofee pie I mixed two scoops of Slimfast vanilla powdered shake with three sticks of celery.....I wish. I am completely lying. It was my Dad's birthday last Friday (one week into my diet!) and as it is his favourite thing I made him this GIGANTIC banofee pie! I may have had a pretty massive slice too.....oops. But apart from that I stuck to plan pretty well!

And now the part everybody was waiting for......THE RESULTS! Did I lose weight? Well. After my two week #SlimfastChallenge I lost TWO pounds. Not that much, I will admit, but it really opened my eyes to how much I usually snack throughout the day! My head is constantly opening and closing the fridge door and picking at whatever is inside, so I am going to start prepping my meals for the day, including snacks. They won't be slimfast snacks though! I know I said I had a sweet tooth, but I would much rather have a nice 200 calorie omelette with smoked salmon for lunch instead of a 200 calorie chocolate bar. I tracked my progress on My Fitness Pal, and saw I was taking in almost 100% carbs everyday, hardly any protein or fats! (To put this into perpective to anybody who isn't obsessed with tracking calories like me, I would usually have around 40% protein, 40% carbs and 20% fat). I found all the carbs made me feel pretty bloated and tired, which isn't a good combo.

SO. The conclusion. Although I enjoyed eating chocolate or crisps for almost every meal, it just didn't feel right. Eating healthy isn't a chore for me, I actually really enjoy it so it was hard to be eating the polar opposite to what I would usually put into my mouth! I also found  myself counting the hours, waiting for my next snack/meal, which was really weird. Oh and to anybody thinking of starting the plan, try and save some snacks for the evening or you will be starving!

CREATING MY DREAM BEDROOM (with a LOT of help from pinterest!)

I moved back to my home town of Preston last Saturday, after five amazing, unforgettable years in Sheffield. It's been a week now, and slowly but surely I am readjusting to life back under my parents roof. Pro's: <3 MY MUMS COOKING <3 (If I could insert the heart eye emoji here I would) and no more of my precious wages spent on things like mundane things like rent, council tax, sky, you get my drift. Con's: EVERY time I leave the house it's like the Spanish Inquisition. 'Where are you going?' 'When are you going to be home?' 'Do you want any tea tonight?', and it's the same the morning after a night out, 'how was last night?' 'Who was out?' 'Where did you go?' I mean, I know my parents are only trying to be nice but PLEASE let me be hungover in peace. I should have made it more clear how serious I am about nobody making conversation with me before 10am.

Anyway another huge PRO is that I get to refurnish my old bedroom! Well, technically it's my oldest brothers room. He drew the short straw and got the smaller room when we were younger, and then when I moved away for uni he upgraded to my bedroom, but now he is in the army and living down south so it's back to being my room! I have got my work cut out because every drawer is full of Japanese manga comics and the walls are currently covered in Game of Thrones posters :| Oh and I also found a massive fucking sword under the bed the other day, and a light sabre in the cupboard....Riiiiiiiight then, each to their own I guess.  I should hold a car boot sale for all his junk because I feel like it's probably worth a lot of money, but for now I'll just leave it to my Mum to put into storage and let me get on with creating the bedroom of my dreams.

I have decided to go for a neutral theme.  The base colours will be off-white, oatmeal, beige, grey and perhaps a few accents of gold. I want it to look homely and relaxing but with a modern twist, which I will attempt to create using accessories. I want texture, and lot's of it! Fairy lights, contemporary prints mixed with my own favourite photographs, cable knit, Mongolian fur, and of course a HUGE full length mirror. Oh, and I NEED the green fig diffuser and room spray from Marks and Spencer (very specific) to keep my room smelling delicious at all time.


Of course, where else would I have got my inspiration from other than Pinterest! It's so easy to lose track of time and day on that website, I hate to think how many hours I have spent trawling through the extravagant homes, each room bursting with the most beautiful home decor I have ever seen. (And then crying myself to sleep over the pathetic budget my mum has given me to redesign mine.. Has she never heard of Pinterest? Does she not realise that anything under £2m is clearly insufficient?!) I can't be the only girl who has seriously contemplating giving up on my career path and going into interior design! That website does terrible things to me. Anyway, I have put together a little montage of affordable home decor that I want to incorporate into my own bedroom. I have already purchased the 'C' light! Mine is more of a rust colour though, and my bedding is more browny than the one pictured.

Here is a bit of inspiration I have got from Pinterest. My pin boards are absolutely CHOCKER with 'bedroomspo' (that's a thing, ok) so I have narrowed it down to my three faves.

I will be sure to upload a blog when my room is done. Perhaps even a vlog....
