Review: MERUMAYA Melting Cleansing Balm

I am actually ashamed to admit that at the ripe old age of 22, I have NEVER completed the three-step skincare routine. I only just started moisturising about two years ago with Clinique Dramatically Different moisturising gel, but cleansing and toning have never been part of my regieme. I have oily/combination skin but luckily I'm not prone to spots, so I always thought a simple make-up wipe at the end of the day would do the trick.

Now I think about it, make-up wipes can be so harsh on the skin, especially when trying to remove stubborn eye make up and in my case, eyelash glue. But I never even gave it a second thought until now.

Last month I was fortunate enough to be invited to the #BloggersSecretSanta2014 where the lovely Lekha introduced me to MERUMAYA.

One product in particular has been raved about by all my favourite bloggers, and what is good enough for them is certainly good enough for me! It is called the Melting Cleansing Balm, and retails at £14.50. Suitable for all skin types, this product promises to 'Take the ‘chore’ out of cleansing and put some pleasure back in with our luxurious and sensual formula.' Lekha kindly gave us all some samples to try so I made a beeline for this.

It is supposed to be used with a muslin cloth, but as I didn't have any of these I used cotton wool pads. Following the directions I began by applying the balm to my dry skin, then as it began to liquify and turn milky, I slowly added water and continued to massage my skin. The application was quick and easy and left my skin feeling so soft and smooth, not to mention the beautiful almond fragrance! And the ultimate test, the towel test! In our bathroom the towels are baby blue, so after using make-up wipes or other facial scrubs I always manage to leave dirty mascara marks all over our towels. The Melting Cleanser left absolutely no stains so my boyfriend will be very happy!

I woke up the following morning with clear, hydrated skin. I had no mascara residue smudged under my eyes like I normally do, and the skin around my eyes didn't feel fragile from being rubbed to death with a make-up wipe.

MERUMAYA meet your new biggest fan! The Melting Cleansing Balm will most definitely be going on my Christmas list. Looking forward to sampling the rest of my products, and I will be sure to review them.

Has anybody else tried any MERUMAYA products? What did you think?
