STYLE FILE: Ladies Day at Aintree

After attending Ladies Day for the first time last year I couldn't wait to go back this year with the girls. The weather had been absolutely shocking all week so I was feeling pretty anxious, because 1. The rain always puts a damper on everything ('scuse the pun) and 2. Because I didn't have a jacket to match my dress.
Anyway the little prayer I said before I slithered into bed on Thursday night must have worked because the sun decided to make an appearance and the weather was glorious. Well, maybe glorious is a little bit of an over-exaggeration but it was the sun was shining and that was good enough for me. I just tried to channel all my energy into the winning horses and try not to think about the fact my body was currently 97% goose bumps, or the reconstructive surgery I was probably going to need on my feet after wearing 12 inch heels all day.
Now if you have never heard about Ladies Day, it is basically the day before the Grand National. As well as the horseracing, a lot of the attention is focused on the race-goers style, and there is a competition held throughout the day to find the 'Best Dressed'. I'm not actually too sure what the prize is though, as I don't know anyone who has ever entered. I would rather get a drink and then spend my day at the side of the racecourse as close to the action as I can get.
Here are some of my favourite outfits from the day (Excuse the poor quality)

This was probably my favourite dress of the day. I think it's a Lipsy dress and I just think she looks like a princess. I think the neckline is so elegant and I love the fishtail. It probably helps that she has an incredible body as well!

I love people who stand out. Masculine chic is huge recently, especially after Angelina Jolie debuting her tux at the BAFTA's. I wouldn't necessarily choose something as vibrant as yellow as I think it looks a little too loud but every credit to her for trying something different.

In my panic to find a Ladies Day dress I quite often found myself browsing dresses from Virgo's Lounge. The brand is sold on ASOS as well as having its own website and I think the dresses are so lavish with the detailed embellishment. I think brunettes look stunning in green and this shade complements her skin tone and hair colour beautifully. I just wouldn't have worn such clumpy shoes; I would have gone for something more elegant.

I'm gutted this photo is so bad. Her shoes were unreal and the whole outfit just looked so on point.

And last but not least...

The four best-dressed ladies of the day! (Perhaps I'm being slightly biased here) From left to right; Sarah wore a neon pink dress from ASOS, Katie wore a floral prom dress from good old Topshop, Livvie wore a gorgeous feather dress from coast and my dress is actually from Ebay! I saw it on Victoria Beckham a few months ago and fell in love. Obviously I can't afford the extortionate price tag so I managed to find this replica on Ebay and I can't tell you how many compliments I got on it. My clutch bag is Mulberry, my heels are Kurt Geiger and my fascinator was from BHS.
Did anyone else attend Ladies Day?
